I feel first surprised then ashamed of how much high school students in Canada have learned about their literature. Atwood recalled that when she was a high school student, she is expected to do quite a number of readings in novels and Shakespeaian plays. When asked about writing as a political act and her travels to Cuba and other countries, which were considered "evil places," Atwood assured the student host who interviewed her that every work of creative writing could be political, even classics like Great Gatsby, and through writing political stances is everywhere despite gender, races or social status.
