Long long time ago

they fell for each other while queueing up to get to the annual basketball game.

Love at first sight was one of the things that they did not believe in till that very moment.

She was whimsical, sassy and damaged little mess-up; he was that sympathetic and patient one that had a softspot for traumatic souls.

The wound was so deep that she thought she'd never come accross anyone that'd understand what she had been through; then she realized there he was, awaiting calmly her arrival. She reached out her hands as a silent cry of help and there he was, grabbing her tightly and promising her that he'd never let go, and secretly committing to her with discretions in every word and every way of treating her.

There was one time that he regretted for not defending her name when he heard the slander; there was one time that she recalled how savage she was to him when she pushed him and turned her back on him after a bellingerent attack on him. Even so, she still found him lingering across the street, gazing at her in the eye and holding on to the last string of hope for her return.

One step closer, they unraveled the complex in their saturated eyes.

One squeeze tighter, they realized they did not wish for anything or anyone else.

Eyes wide shut, they saw their history flashed back and a glint of prognostication of possible life together.

Hearts quieted down, they heard the unspoken words and affection in each other and learnt how much they bore their thoughts and read the minds.

For once, the twisted emotions had her question whether he was the one;
for once, the numb sentiments had him doubt whether she could be rescued, whether she could forsake the phantoms chasing her on the back.

Then he chose to believe in her, trusting that she would find her way out and give him her hands by following the light that he let on.

And she chose to remain hopeful for the happiness she has been pursuing and fight the loneliness and helplessness that derogated her from finding the meaning of life.

As she felt the gently perspiring warmth in his palms, she felt secured and assured of the freedom and content that she looked for, whereas he clamped her hand, squeezed her right hand in the left pocket of his big snow jacket, till he felt a sense of tranquility and stability.

He thus trusted her willpower in hanging on to life, to a faith in happiness and to all the good in this life.

She hence acknowledged his effort and affection and faith in her, and was determined to evade the fatal attraction to the infernal, wretched and destitude that might have perished her once.

Long long time after, they still thrive on their passion for each other and they still believe that they do deserve the unconditional love for each other...

for he knows that she would always remember the route leading her way home, despite how detours would have blinded her and barricaded her way home, despite how much her sight would have been blurred by the blizzard; she shall always bear the memory of his countenance and the heat he passed on to her through every inch of his skin, and head for home, come back to him.
