The age of 29 is like the age of crossover for a woman. When a woman above 28 is unmarried, pressure and doubts for her come from everywhere. The age 29 is the last year that a woman is called a woman in her late twenties; at the same time, it is the previous year that she turns to be thirty, the year Confucism defines as the mature and independent year.
She is judged by not merely the elders but the juniors.
Some of her elder colleagues wait for her fall because they have been sick of the sight of such a young woman having the access of happiness and career. Especially when they feel bound and adhered in the family, with husband and kids, they conceal their attack through subtle gesture or language that usually trigger the softest part of the woman.
For those who are the woman's Junior, they await for the chance that she falls so that they could replace her in the position that they desperately seek in work. Especially when they perceive (or shall I say "snoop") the draught, the leak, a tiny weakness, fracture in the woman, they slide into the vacancy and endeavor to take her out and remove her from their way up.
The woman may feel vulnerable; all of her effort may have been vaporized, and none of her achievement is regarded as any success.
Nonetheless, she couldn't afford to give up everything and surrender with a white flag announcing her withdrawal from society.
She realizes that it is either she eats or she is eaten; she has to choose to be a vulture or be the prey of the vulture.
Despite her intention of predating other, she is forced to eat in order to live.
And this is what society teaches her:
for survival, she hence becomes another vulture,
feeding on the fresh kicking meat or the rotten carcass...
